Travel Bordeaux With the fast and professionnel TGV train service getting you to Bordeaux in under 3 hours from Paris and a new tram system intergrated into the cities culture you will find that travelling in and to Bordeaux has greatly improved.

If you need to fly, Merignac Airport with direct flights to Luton and other international destinations, is 25 mins outside the city centre. The City of Bordeaux is well connected by motorways with the main western road to Spain ( about 3 hrs drive) passing through the Rocade (A10 - A63). You can also head off to the South East using the A62 where you will end up on the Mediterranean Coast after about 6 hrs driving.

History of Bordeaux From the Celtics to the Romans, years of the Crusaders through to the reign of Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II the city of Bordeaux has had a colourful history. The city florished between 12 - 15 centurys due to its close connections with England and the English love of wine before it was handed back to France after the Battle of Castillon in 1453.

The Bordeaux as we can see now dates back from the 18 C and as you walk through the old city you can understand why it is classed as the best preserved eighteenth century city in Europe...
