Morocco - Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate created in 1928 as
a French garrison town is the undisputed film capital of Morocco,
with major block busters including Lawrence of Arabia and Star
Wars being filmed at her outdoor studios.
From Marrakech drop off the Tizi
Tichka pass and follow the valley downwards passing ancient
kasbahs and beautiful Berber villages including Targua and Ikiss.
The town of Ouarzazate is
situated on a vast desert plateau at the foot of the Atlas Mountains and is a popular location with tourists on their way to the
Sahara Desert.
Gite Soleil

The town has ultra modern hotel complexes and
is a popular stop off for international visiters travelling
between the High Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert of Morocco.
During the summer the effect of the desert can
be felt with temperatures reaching 40'c , while in the winter
the snow caped Jebel Siroua
and Mgoun can be seen in the
distance giving Ouarzazate its famous picture postcard.
