Follow the valley downwards passing ancient kasbahs

Ouarzazate created in 1928 as a French garrison town is the undisputed film capital of Morocco, with major block busters including Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars being filmed at her outdoor studios.

Tizi Tichka pass

From Marrakech drop off the Tizi Tichka pass and follow the valley downwards passing ancient kasbahs and beautiful Berber villages including Targua and Ikiss.

The town of Ouarzazate is situated on a vast desert plateau at the foot of the Atlas Mountains and is a popular location with people on their way to the Sahara Desert by the Draa Valley.

The town has ultra modern hotel complexes and is a popular stop off for international visiters travelling between the High Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert of Morocco.

During the summer the effect of the desert can be felt with temperatures reaching 40'c , while in the winter the snow caped Jebel Siroua and Mgoun can be seen in the distance giving Ouarzazate its famous picture postcard.
