
Hourtin is split into 4 main parts, village, port, lakes and serene sandy beach, where you will find family-friendly activites and sports for all ages. Learn to surf, or ride with the pros in stunning scenery and comfortable temperatures. 150km of biking trails meander along the lakes shoreline and also out to the sandy ocean beach at Hourtin Plage, these are part of the Velodyssee, the Atlantic Coast cycling route which runs from Roscoff to the Paye Basque passing Hourtin before making it's way past the Arcachon Bassin on it's way south.
Atlantic Coastal Village The beach of Hourtin with its collection of bars and shops, campsite, surf club and surf school is ideal for those who want a few pointers in the waves. Tennis is found in the village Hourtin not far from the Ourmes Campsite and Hourtin Port and has 8 outside courts.



Those who are looking for a place to fish (fresh water) the Hourtin / Carcans lake (6000 hectares - an exceptional forest environment between dunes and marshes) is at your doorstep where you can introduce your children to the world of course fishing but you will need a licence. You will find the lake is rich in Pike and Perch and a good option is to take a guide who will give the local knowlege that you may need to give you the chance to land the catch of the day.




Just outside the village centre you will find the "Island of the Childern " at Hourtin Port where you can give the kids a chance to let off some steam at the water park which has slides and castles open during the summer months. This is also the starting point for the Frenchman a Triathlon that runs in the month of May.
